Therapeutic massage
Therapeutic massage has many beneficial effects on the body: local circulation is increased which improves the delivery of nutrients and the removal of
toxins, fibrous adhesions are broken down, muscle tension is reduced, tissue flexibility is increased, joint mobility is improved. All of these effects will
improve the functioning of the body and provide a feeling of improved well-being. A therapeutic massage can be relaxing to reduce stress or can be stimulating
to reduce fatigue.
Sports massage
Sports massage helps the sports/keep fit person to maintain their competitive
performance and helps in the avoidance of injury. The massage is targeted more
towards the muscle groups that are affected by the sporting activity.
Frequently the massage may be uncomfortable as areas of
tightness/adhesions are addressed. This helps to return muscle tissue to a
healthy condition and may help in the prevention of injury. Massage post-event aids recovery and helps prevent muscle soreness.
Seated massage
The technique, derived from Eastern massage, uses mostly elbow and thumb
pressure to stimulate points on the back, shoulders, arms, neck, and head.
Working on these points will help relieve the physical symptoms of stress,
muscle tension, and joint stiffness. Seated (acupressure) massage has been found to be helpful for many conditions
including: anxiety, headaches, arthritis, high blood pressure, asthma, muscular tension,
depression, and repetitive strain injury (RSI).
